KING'S CREEK GREENWAY
Purpose of the Greenway

The King’s Creek Greenway is visionary, a linear corridor that will connect residents of Tupelo
and Lee County to an active lifestyle and each other. The goal of the greenway is to connect
neighborhoods, schools, parks, and other key community assets in an equitable manner, while
using that connectivity to leverage investment in underdeveloped areas. The desired outcomes
for the project are:
QUALITY OF LIFE
For Tupelo to be the premier destination for biking walking and outdoor recreation in the state and region

HEALTH AND SAFETY
To encourage healthy lifestyles by increasing access to recreational assets with an emphasis on safety

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
To incentive private investment and economic activity along the greenway corridor

-
What can I do on the greenway?Greenways are ideal for walking, jogging, cycling, dog walking (on leashes), skating, and more. They offer a safe and scenic space for both recreation and transportation. Some sections may include nature overlooks, art installations, or educational signage.
-
Will the greenway be accessible for everyone?Yes! Accessibility is a priority. Most greenways are designed to meet ADA standards and include wide, gently sloped paths suitable for wheelchairs, strollers, and people of all abilities. Benches, signage, and rest areas are included for comfort and safety.
-
Will the greenway be safe?Safety is a top concern. Greenways are designed with visibility, lighting, and clear signage in mind. In many areas, local police or park staff regularly patrol. We also encourage users to follow basic trail etiquette and use the greenway during daylight hours.
-
Where is the greenway located? The greenway is planned to follow key natural and urban corridors, linking important community destinations such as schools, parks, residential areas, and business districts. The exact path of the greenway is currently being determined as conversations with local agencies, institutions, and landowners are ongoing.
-
When will the greenway be built or completed?Greenway development is typically completed in phases, depending on funding and planning approvals. While timelines may vary, we aim to keep the public informed through regular updates, events, and project milestones posted online and at public meetings.
-
Who is funding the greenway?Like other greenway projects, the goal for King's Creek Greenway is to receive a combination of funding from private and public sources, at the local, state, and national level.
-
How will the greenway benefit the Tupelo community?Greenways promote healthier lifestyles, protect natural resources, and boost the local economy. They improve quality of life by offering accessible spaces for exercise, reducing traffic congestion, enhancing property values, and creating opportunities for social connection.
-
How can I get involved or support the greenway? There are many ways to get involved—attend a public meeting, provide feedback our website, or become a community ambassador. You can also follow our updates on social media or sign up for newsletters to stay informed and share the vision.
